View Full Version : Is this my motor pinging? Acceleration rattle...

First off, my timing chain and tensioners have been replaced so I doubt it has anything to do with that.

I have a kade; my motor seems to ping or rattle under acceleration. It only rattles when my car is warmed up completely. Whenever I accelerate between around... 1500 - 3500 rpm (give or take some rpm). Also when I downshift around that rpm. If I keep it at a constant rpm it doesn't rattle nor in neutral.

Is this a problem with my motoring pinging or could it be another problem? I've been pumping 87 :(...so I guess it could be? (I tried octance booster but that hasn't done anything...) Thanks! :)

p.s. going back to 91 after I use up this tank of gas

Possible detonation? Does it sound like popcorn-popping lightly? lol

don't forget it could also simply be an exhaust leak that doesn't uncover itself unless under heavier load.

I don't think it's an exhaust leak it sounds nothing like one.

just as gary said, seems like detonation. only a matter of time. maybe ur oil return isn't working properly, causing valve tap?

My timing is set right and it's not my chain guides because they're already removed. It turns out it is my oil pump, i have low oil pressure. Thanks to everyone who replied. You can lock this thread now.
