Okay i know i haven't passed the game yet, but i just wanted to get passed my first boss before i put in my opinion on this game. Here's my review.
First off i'm going to say that i doubted the games potential. Mainly because it seemed to loose a lot of hype as soon as some reviewers got their hands on it. The main problem with the game was the mass downloading to your PS3s hard drive. So, this was also a great concern to me, but as it turns out it was no big deal at all. It took no longer than 3mins. to install the '' First Act'' as the game puts it. Yes you have to do this download to your hard drive after every single Act you go through. The download time goes by like nothing though.
Oh.... you also will need 4000MB of free space on your hard drive to get the game started. Don't worry if you have GTA4 you should be fine. GTA4 was over 4000MB.
On to the game play. Nothing much has changed since Snake Eater (Metal Gear Solid 3). The control scheme has stayed much the same in the aspect of you being able to go into First Person to hold up enemy soldiers. Even though this was introduced to us in Metal Gear Solid 2 (Sons Of Liberty). In MGS4 they've drastically improved this feature. Now you can search your prisoner as you hold them up. So there's no having them shake as you point your gun at them. Which in my opinion looked real silly. Well, Its not much but it leaves you guarded as you can go from shooting him, to throwing him, or just plain using him as a shield against other enemies.
The graphics are one amazing attribute this game has to offer. Yet not the best i've seen on the PS3 but down right amazing. Snake comes along with a sweet OctoCamo. This OctoCamo can shift shades and colors according to what surface Snake is touching. So, if you have Snake lying prone on the ground his suit will change brown like the dirt, or greens and browns if he's near some grass. Along with some sweet add ons you find through out the game. The OctoCamo will be saving your ass very frequently. The sound has improved as well. Now the enemies are more alert to your foot steps and to your Night Vision lens. This is cool because you can hear the birds, and rodents as you walk through the forest.
Now, brings us to the story of the game. If you've ever played any Metal Gear Solid game you've realized that none of it makes sense. I think the only way you can understand the terms they use here is if you were once a great military genius. ahahahah So, i'll sum it up for you without ruining anything. Snake and Otacon have found Liquid Snake in the Middle East. The story unfolds rapidly and you are introduced to new villians knows as B&B (Beauty and the Beast). These are hot babes that have survived some amazing war trauma and have been taken to be used as weapons in Liquids elite army. From what i've seen there's four of them and each one has special techniques that will become apparent to you as you move on through the story. Just like i said though, the story move quickly and you will learn a lot about Snake and the Patriots. Being as to how this is going to be Snakes last game. You're gonna want to pay attention.
Along the story line you'll meet a gun launderer, old allies, old villians, and some new and impresive enemies. This game is a must buy. Enjoy it as much as i'm enjoying it. Have fun guys. :gat: :gat:
