So i got the game as early as possible Tuesday. Right off the bat, hearing all of the hype, and all of the perfect scoring. I have to say, its pretty damn good. No basic to the other GTA games.
The gameplay hasn't changed much. With a few add ons like covering, blind sight shooting, and a new targeting system. The driving physiques are now greatly improved. The environments are now a bit destructible now. So, if you're thinking of hanging out behind that fence there until you can think of a plan. That might just now work. These features might now be perfect or completely realistic, but the little environment changes that happen make the game that more exciting. Now while driving around Liberty City, braking becomes a big part and a big friend. You can't take turns just by simply releasing the accelerator anymore. It involves some practice and some calculating your cornering speed and corner angle. Have fun just driving around for that.
Much like in real life operating your cell phone while driving takes some real practice. LOL. Communicating with characters you meet along the story line makes the game way more interesting to play. From receiving txt to getting distress calls from your cousin Roman. There will be times when you need to contact them in order to progress through the story.
Of course the game is now multiplayer. Up to 16 players can run around Liberty City doing whatever they want online. Create your own game modes, hunt for Easter eggs, work together to survive a six-star wanted level, cop & robber you name it. Now while your host is making up the game mode, the rest of you waiting in the lobby can pass the time killing each other in a death match. Each one of you is spawned with a pistol in a circle facing each other. ahahahah Just playing that lobby game is awesome.
My review. The game is awesome. Don't play around your GF/Wife or young kids. A lot of cussing a lot of sex, partial nudity, and adult themes going on. The game is awesome. Can't wait for Bully2. Have fun guys.

The game is fun...
I have about 8 hours into single player (yea.....), and i played about 30 minutes online with some dudes from sddrift/zilvia. Fun as hell.
Nothing beats rolling up in full car with MP5s and doing a driveby on the other team, lol.

Yeah Gran Theft Auto 4, Gran Turismo 5 they're both a great reasons to buy a PS3. Don't forget about Metal Gear Solid 4, Resident Evil 5, and SOCOM Confrontation coming out this year. Not only that but you don't have to pay to play online. I mean you're already paying for your own internet. Why should you pay to play with your system??? I say PS3 all the way.
If you are planning on getting a PS3 and you're not in a big hurry. You should wait until they release the Metal Gear Solid PS3 bundle. It will come with a 80Gig PS3, DualShock Wireless controller, and Metal Gear Solid 4. All for a simple price of $599. Not bad.

Because PSN will never be as good as xbox live.
Friends list, private chats, voice chat support in EVERY game, universal leaderboards, universal usernames, ability to block and mute anyone you please, etc.

eh...I don't really care about all that, I figure that's what myspace is for. It all boils down to preference I guess and how much of a gamer you are.

I suppose so. It does make a big difference in team oriented games though; which makes it more fun, imo.

I'm not much for first person shooter games, but GTA games are always so much fun. I could always just wait for the PC version. Probably will too. I want a Wii so bad lol

I have a Wii. Honestly..... i don't play it. Its absolutely great in groups but playing alone. I honestly think its damn boring. Even the Wii Sports or Wii Games. I'm a huge enormous Resident Evil fan. So, i bought Resident Evil 4 and Umbrella Chronicles for the Wii. If it wasn't for that those two games i wouldn't play it at all. I have Mario Party 8 again great in a group along with Wii Sports, Wii Games. Your GF/Wife will love it. You might not.
IMO. Don't let me discourage you.
